We have a wonderful team of committed teachers who impart the truths and principles of the Bible in an exciting way. Classrooms for different grade levels facilitate teaching in age appropriate settings. We use Discipleland Curriculum.

What does Sunday morning look like for a child at Midway?

9:30 - Sunday School

11:00 – Children who are in Kindergarten through 3rd Grade are brought to the Worship Center shortly before the service begins. After the opening song, Pastor Dean shares a story with them following the Scripture Reading. Children in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade are then dismissed to Noah’s Park. In Noah’s Park the children remain together for their own special time of worship before they split up for a Missions lesson. You can pick your child(ren) up in Noah’s Park following the 11:00 service or Adult Sunday School Class that you attend.

Common Questions

What do I need to bring for my child?

A diaper bag for those who are not potty trained. A spare set of clothing is suggested in case of accidents. However, we have extra items available if needed.

Do you provide a snack?

We provide a snack during both hours. This typically consists of cheerios, gold fish, animal crackers or pretzels. If your child has allergies please feel free to provide the teacher with a snack that can be given to your child.

Is the lesson the same for both worship service times?

No. Most Midway families attend both Sunday School and Worship. We use Discipleland Curriculum. The 9:30 hour focuses on the Bible story. There are different crafts and activities that the teacher uses. During the 11:00 hour all preschool classrooms meet together for their worship time. A life application story and short activity. The Bible story is also re-emphasized.

What is the check-in/pick up procedure?

The safety of our preschoolers is of the utmost importance. You will be asked to fill out an information sheet the first time you visit. Your child will be given a permanent nametag with a number on it. You will be given a card with your name, child’s name and corresponding number. Upon pick up you will be asked to present that card at the door to your child’s teacher. After the first visit you will take your child to directly to their classroom. The nametag will be in their individual classroom.

Are their separate classrooms for each age?

Yes. There are separate classrooms for Bed Babies, Toddlers, 2 Years, 3 Years & 4 Years. Typically children ages birth thru 2 years are placed according to milestones (crawling & walking) or on their birthday. They advance up according to the school system cutoff of August 31.

Do you have a program for exceptional children with special needs?

Yes. Children with special needs are wonderful creations from God. We work individually with each family and child to properly care for these precious little ones. They are exposed to the same Bible teaching and worship experience. When necessary we will provide one on one assistance. Please contact our Children’s Ministry Directors to discuss your specific child’s needs.

Do you background check your workers?

Yes. Each worker is asked to fill out a form. A private, contracted company provides a report.

Toddlers – Room 107

Common Questions

Can siblings of different ages stay together?

We love that kids want to stay with their friends or siblings; however our rooms are designed for specific age groups. The lessons and games in your child’s room are specially designed for them. If your child brings a friend or sibling and they are of different ages, we will welcome them each into their age-appropriate classrooms.

What is the process of checking in my child?

At the 9:30 Sunday school and service, your first step is to bring your child to the Children’s area located to the right of the main foyer. You will be asked to fill out an information sheet of pertinent details. You can now leave your child and attend one of the many adult Sunday school classes or the Worship service.

Between the two Worship services please return to the classroom. Your child will accompany you to the sanctuary and sit with you until Pastor Ropp gives his children’s sermon. They can then leave for Noah’s Park in the children’s area to the right. If you have a 4th or 5th grader, they can also leave to attend an age-appropriate class or remain with you in the Worship service.

If you only attend at 11:00, go with your child to the sanctuary. By 11:20, Pastor Ropp will excuse your child for Noah’s Park and any 4th/5th graders can leave for their own Sunday school class.

On later visits as our guest, you will want to bring your child to their proper room.

How do I know my kids are safe?

Midway Community Church has developed a “Safe Sanctuary Policy” for our Children’s Ministry. Our number one goal is to take care of your kids and keep them safe. In addition, all of our volunteers have been cleared through a national background check for safety! We value your trust and we will not put any unsafe leaders in their classroom.

What if my child has special dietary, physical or mental needs?

If your child has special needs, whether that might be a food allergy, medical condition or learning challenge, please let our staff know. We would love to provide any special care that your child might need.

What can my child expect?

Your child can expect to learn the truth from God’s Word and to have a great time in our Children’s Ministry! In all our rooms a lesson is taught. After teaching time your kids will either have fun working on a craft, maybe eating a snack, learning with friends or talking to teachers.
